Conclusões

A Presidência Portuguesa da União Europeia em 2007 terminou. As suas conclusões, no que diz respeito a Ciência, Tecnologia e Ensino Superior, constam de documentos importantes descritos na nota de agradecimento do Ministro português para estas áreas aos participantes nas conferências:

Em nome da Presidência Portuguesa do Conselho da União Europeia, gostaria de agradecer a participação de Vexa. nas conferências organizadas pela Presidência. Estes eventos juntaram alguns dos principais intervenientes nas áreas das políticas de ciência, tecnologia, sociedade de informação e ensino superior, contribuindo para o processo de decisão político a nível europeu nessas áreas.

Gostaria de salientar as Conclusões e Resoluções aprovadas pelo Conselho Competitividade sobre o Futuro da Ciência e Tecnologia na Europa, a Modernização das Universidades, as Nanociências e Nanotecnologias, e sobre a Informação Científica e Técnica na Era Digital. Foram também tomadas decisões sobre as primeiras quatro Iniciativas Tecnológicas Conjuntas (JTI): ENIAC (Nanoelectrónica), ARTEMIS (Sistemas Embebidos), IMI (Medicamentos Inovadores), Clean Sky (Aeronáutica), a Proposta de Regulamento para a criação do Instituto Europeu de Tecnologia e Inovação e a posição comum sobre o programa Ambient Assisted Living. Finalmente, gostaria de referir a elaboração, por iniciativa da Presidência Portuguesa, de um Livro colectivo dos Ministros de Investigação sobre as políticas nacionais na área da Ciência e Tecnologia (The Future of Science and Technology in Europe). Trata-se de um conjunto único de textos escritos pelos ministros europeus sobre as respectivas políticas nacionais e a sua contribuição para objectivos comuns europeus. Este livro foi presente aos Chefes de Estado e de Governo no Conselho Europeu de 14 de Dezembro e encontra-se igualmente disponível em formato digital em:

High Level Conference on Nanotechnologies

Nanotechnology has gained relevance in the last years. This can be attributed to the development of the available technologies, but a strong motivation for developing Nanotechnologies is that most biological and chemical processes occur at nanoscale. Seeing and actuating at this scale has unlimited potential, in Biomedicine as well as Electronics or Materials Science and Technology.

EuroBioForum is an annual forum where researchers, funding organisations and other stakeholders across Europe meet to discuss future life sciences priorities.
